Nokia’s “Treasure Tags” Help You Find Lost Keys

There is nothing more frustrating than losing your keys, but thanks to Nokia that might no longer be a problem. According to sources the firm is planning to launch a “Treasure Tag” accessory that is able to track items using Bluetooth and NFC with a Lumia Windows phone.
Apparently the device will be a small, squarish shape that has an attached loop so it can be hooked onto your key ring. The Treasure Tag is a proximity sensor that uses a combination of Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC to link up to your phone.

The Treasure Tag will pair to a Lumia phone via NFC and then uses Bluetooth 4.0 to track it. It is one of the first devices to use Bluetooth Low Energy support, meaning the Tag can always be on. This new Bluetooth Low Energy will be available as part of Nokia’s Amber update as they make Bluetooth 4.0 available to their Windows phones.
Once the device has been connected with your phone, then an app will display the location of the Treasure Tag on a map. As long as you are close enough, you will be able to press a button on the Tag that will sound a notification alarm on your phone. So far though, it not clear whether the device will update its location periodically.
Once Nokia roll out Bluetooth 4.0, it is planning to introduce a host of new accessories make use of this new feature.
So it could be the time that we see smart tags take off and you won’t need to worry about losing keys; that is if you don’t lose your phone!
